This update is provided to alert you about upcoming events in the flying community.
SDHGPA 2008 Awards Ceremony
A reminder that the 2008 SDHGPA "Rich Matros Memorial XC Contest" awards will be presented at the upcoming SDHGPA meeting on March 11th. The general meeting will be held from 6:30 - 7:30 at the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant located at 8885 Balboa Ave San Diego, CA 92123.

Along with the Awards presentation, there will be a raffle for hats and shirts.
2009 Cross Country (XC) Contest
The 2008 flying season proved to be be a great one for San Diego with many memorable and noteworthy XC flights. Come join us in the celebration of a great year of flying and meet some of our great XC flying crew.
Now for 2009, we have a new "Leonardo XC Club" to log and view all our flights. This will make it both easier and more fun to view the current status of the contest as the year progresses. So get your SDHGPA membership current, break out that GPS, log those flights, and contact Erik so he can get you listed in the "Leonardo XC Club". Erik will be happy to help you if you have any questions as well.

HG Reserve Repack
As we are looking for options to host the 2009 repack clinic some pilots may wish to have their chutes repacked sooner.
John Heiney can inspect and repack HG reserves at his shop in San Marcos. If anyone needs the service, he charges $40.

March Calendar - Tailgate Fly-in and So Cal XC League Event
Many members have expressed that we have a more regular club fly-ins. In response to this, the SDHGPA will be having monthly fly-ins that rotate sites in Southern California.
The first "Tailgate Fly-in" will be Saturday March 21st at Blossom Valley. The SDHGPA will provide some food and beverages for members.
Note: Each site has an USHPA rating recommendation, please fly responsibly.
The next SoCal XC Event is scheduled for March 14th and 15th in Santa Barbara. Tasks will be set for HG and PG pilots. Visit http://usxcleague.com for more information.

- The San Diego Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association is a hang gliding and paragliding club dedicated to the promotion and preservation of foot launched soaring in San Diego County. We work together to keep our primary flying sites open by insuring, maintaining, purchasing, regulating, and monitoring our launch sites and landing zones. Our guiding principle is that all foot launched pilots, of hang gliders and paragliders alike, share common goals and interests best served by a united effort to promote flying safety, education, and good community relations in San Diego County. We support hang gliding and paragliding at the national level through the United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (USHPA) and concurrent membership in that organization is the one and only club membership requirement.
